Sitcom producer Aron Abrams, whose credits included the since-shuttered Everybody Hates Chris and Grounded for Life, was found dead in his Waikoloa, Hawaii, hotel room on Christmas morning.
He was 50.
Abrams was staying at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel with his wife, pediatric dentist Lynn Lempert, according to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, which reported that paramedics arrived at the hotel at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said there was no indication of foul play, but they are awaiting results from Friday’s scheduled autopsy before making any conclusions.
Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood has a source saying that it appears Abrams had a heart attack.
The veteran writer-producer’s credits also include 3rd Rock From the Sun and King of the Hill. He shared a nomination for Best New Series for Everybody Hates Chris at the 2006 WGA Awards.

‘Little Chris” was how New York comics referred to Tony Rock when he watched his older, famous brother Chris Rock kill at Manhattan comedy clubs more than 15 years ago.
Yet that didn’t bother him. Tony Rock says it was much harder living in Bedford-Stuyvesant, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. “I was a world away when I watched my brother and the other comics,” he says. “I learned the art of comedy.”
With his brother as a model, Rock, 35, has honed his skills as a stand-up over the past decade. “I grew up with the blueprint,” he says of his famous brother, “but I’m still learning. But I’m getting closer.”
Expect Rock to deliver topical material when he appears August 6 through 9 at Goodnight’s.
“What’s good about being the type of comic I am is that something is always happening in the news,” Rock says in a call from his Los Angeles home.
The younger Rock emerged from his brother’s large shadow by acting in the WB sitcom “All of Us,” which ran for three seasons, and the 2007 TV film “Life Support,” a Queen Latifah vehicle. “We’re talking about my second favorite job,” Rock says. “I enjoy acting. But stand-up is my first love. But the bottom line is making people laugh. I like doing that on TV.”
Rock also helped with his brother’s recently ended show “Everybody Hates Chris,” in which he had a recurring role.
“He’ll call me and ask me, ‘Hey, what did Uncle John do during your birthday?’ I tell him, and he says, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s right, I forgot about that.’ We watch each other’s backs. We hang out. My brother doesn’t travel with a bodyguard. When we go down to downtown Brooklyn for a sandwich, it’s just us. Chris is friendly with everybody.”
Part of the reason Rock believes his brother remains a top comic is his connection with everyday people. “I think it’s important for comedians to be on that level,” Rock says. “Look at Michael Richards. I’m not shocked at what happened to him. I used to see him all the time at clubs. I think part of the reason he is the way he is as a comic and as a person is because he made his millions and lives in his fortress of solitude. My brother doesn’t live that way, and he’s a better comic for that reason.”
Don’t be surprised if Rock co-stars with his accomplished sibling in a future film. “We’ll definitely do it, but I don’t want to do it now,” Rock says. “If I do it now, it’ll be like, ‘Hey, Chris is doing a movie with his brother.’ I don’t want that. I don’t want to be Shawn Wayans.
“When the time comes, I want people to say, ‘Hey, Chris and Tony are doing a movie together.’ I didn’t mind being called ‘Little Chris’ way back when because I hadn’t done anything yet. I’m working on making a name for myself.
The show is produced by CBS Paramount Television and was broadcast on the The CW, features fictional characters and situations loosely based on real people and situations. Unlike other CW sitcoms at the time of its debut, Everybody Hates Chris is shot using a single camera with no studio audience laugh track.
On September 22, 2005, the series’ premiere achieved higher ratings than NBC’s season premiere of Joey, giving UPN, its third highest rating in history. With seven million viewers, it was fourth highest-rated program at the 8 p.m. ET time slot.
With the recent cancellation of Girlfriends and the WWE’s decision to move SmackDown to MyNetworkTV in the fall of 2008, Everybody Hates Chris, along with America’s Next Top Model, will be the last running television programs to have aired both on UPN and on the CW. During “Everybody Hates G.E.D.,” Chris learns the sobering news that he’ll have to repeat the tenth grade if he receives one more tardy. Who wants that on their shoulders, right? So, of course, Chris does everything possible to arrive at school on time.
Nonetheless, he’s eventually late again when he misses the bus one day, and to make matters worse, he then has to tell his parents about the repercussions. I can hear Rochelle’s strident, angry voice right now.
Meanwhile, Chris’ younger brother Drew attempts to brainstorm a talent after he decides he wants to try out for Amateur Night at the Apollo. The boy certainly dreams big!
A new episode of The Game called “The Fall of the Roman” follows Chris at 8:30pm. Kelly reluctantly allows Jason to introduce their daughter Brittany to his new girlfriend Camille (Stacey Dash), and Melanie is hesitant about buying the perfect wedding dress.
On May 15, the subsequent Friday, The Game will premiere the one-hour, two-episode third-season finale event “I Want It All and I Want It Now” and “The Wedding Episode,” which may double as the comedy’s series finale, as well. At least it looks like fans will finally get the marriage ceremony that’s been in the works since the sitcom’s Fall 2006 debut.
